The Marie Drake Planetarium is a unique Juneau resource. It allows us to model the sky even when the weather is miserable! It has a 30 foot domed ceiling equipped with a powerful projector. The Planetarium is located downtown on Glacier Highway in the Marie Drake Building (between Harborview and High School). An astronomy show is presented the last Tuesday of every month. Other shows and events given periodically. Planetarium presentations are available (at no charge) for school classes and community groups. Private planetarium presentations are also available for a small fee (payable to Community Schools). Contact the planetarium to find out if a volunteer is available. Shows and events are always FREE but donations are welcome. The planetarium has been run by volunteers for twenty years. The planetarium also has several permanent community projects. |
To contact the Planetarium at warp speed, send a e-mail or call Steve Kocsis at 500-2941 or John Kremers at 723-9012. |
